About This Tool
How Due Date is Calculated
The standard method (Naegele's rule) estimates the due date as 280 days (40 weeks) after the first day of your last menstrual period. This is the most widely used method for women with regular 28-day cycles. What This Tool Tells You
- Your estimated due date (EDD)
- How many weeks pregnant you are right now
- Which trimester you are in
- Days remaining until the EDD
This is an estimate. Actual delivery can be up to 2 weeks before or after the EDD. Always confirm dates with an ultrasound and your healthcare provider.
Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the LMP method?
For women with regular 28-day cycles it's accurate within about a week. Irregular cycles, late ovulation, or unknown LMP dates make ultrasound dating in the first trimester much more reliable.
What if my cycle isn't 28 days?
Adjust the cycle length input. The calculator shifts the due date by the difference between your cycle length and 28 days, since ovulation typically happens about 14 days before menstruation regardless of cycle length.
Can I rely on this without seeing a doctor?
No. This tool is for general information only. Prenatal care is essential — early ultrasound, blood tests, and clinical exams refine the dating and monitor health for both mother and baby.
